Four All-America Rose Selections for 2003

The 2003 All-America Rose Selections (AARS) include a beautifully formed, white hybrid tea, two excellent landscape floribundas, and an eye-catching red and white grandiflora.

Here's the best of the new roses to look for this year:

'Whisper' is the first white hybrid to be selected in over 20 years. It produces beautifully formed, 5-inch wide, creamy white blossoms, which are unmatched in bouquets. 'Whisper' is a vigorous, upright rose with dark green, semi-glossy leaves and excellent disease resistance.

'Hot Cocoa' is a floribunda with unique coloring described as a very novel brownish orange washed with a chocolate haze of velvety smoked tones that can even take on a purply cast. Wow! The large flowers are born in clusters and have wonderful old rose fragrance. Free-blooming and disease resistant, 'Hot Cocoa' is the perfect rose for a distinctive spot of color in any garden.

'Eureka' is an excellent, golden yellow floribunda, perfect as a hedge or planted in mixed borders. It produces an abundance of lightly fragrant, 4-inch blooms backed by deep green, disease resistant foliage.

'Cherry Parfait' is beautiful, sturdy grandiflora that is another fine addition to landscape situations. The flowers are bright white with a broad, lipstick-red edge and have light fragrance. The non-stop bloom is highlighted by deep green, disease resistance foliage on a dense, shrubby plant.

Plant these and other roses in full sun and well-drained soil. Water and fertilize regularly during the growing season. To protect against insects like aphids, thrips, spider mites and whiteflies and fertilize at the same time, use Bayer Advanced™ 2-in-1 Systemic Rose & Flower Care Granules. One application protects your plants for up to six weeks and feeds them.
