| 'Becky' Shasta Daisy - 2003 Perennial Plant of the Year A long season of glowing white daisies on top of strong stems
that don't need staking have earned the Shasta Daisy 'Becky' the
honor of 2003 Perennial Plant of the Year. The award, given by
the Perennial Plant Association, is handed out annually to the
most outstanding, easy-to-grow perennial. And 'Becky' fits the
bill. Like most Shasta daisies, Becky begins blooming in spring
but, with superior heat tolerance, it continues to bloom into
midsummer and even into fall in some areas. 'Becky' makes an
exceptional addition to perennial borders, naturalistic
plantings and large containers. It attracts butterflies and is a
fine cut flower.
Look for 'Becky' in nurseries and garden centers this spring.
Plant in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Apply
Bayer Advanced™ Triple Action All Purpose Plant Food Granules at
planting time. One application feeds for up to 3 months. 'Becky'
grows a little over 3 feet high with an equal spread. To keep
plants blooming, remove spent flowers. Cut back after bloom in
fall.
