Bayer Advanced™ is a title sponsor of the 3rd Annual Clean Air Green Tour, designed to educate consumers about the economic and environmental benefits of protecting trees, environmental responsibility, sustainability and “green” products.
The 60-plus-city, 24-state tour kicked off April 19 in Mechanicsburg, Pa., near Harrisburg. Experts in tree care, environmental responsibility, sustainability and “green” products toured the country in a bio-diesel, solar-powered bus and a Bayer Advanced hybrid SUV, vehicles specifically selected to promote cleaner air and energy efficiency.
Benefits of Trees
- In one year, an acre of trees can absorb as much carbon as is produced by a car driven up to 8,700 miles, according to the International Society of Arboriculture.
- The Georgia Forestry Commission says just three properly placed trees around the home can save the average household $100-$250 annually in energy costs. A row of evergreen trees helps block cold winds in the winter. Trees on the east- and west-facing sides of the home shade windows from the sun.
- Trees also add to curb appeal. The U.S. Forest Service says trees can increase property values by as much as 10 percent.
