Growing Roses Just Got a Whole Lot Easier
Right or wrong, roses have always been thought of as one of the more difficult plants to grow. Despite new, easier-to-grow varieties, pest problems or a lack of bloom and vigor are often the first thing mentioned when gardeners talk about their roses. And it's true that insects like Japanese beetles and aphids, but especially diseases like black spot and powdery mildew, can raise havoc with roses and spoil all the fun. But all that changes in 2004, the year roses got a whole lot easier to grow with the introduction of Bayer Advanced™ All-In-One Rose & Flower Care Concentrate.
Bayer Advanced™ All-In-One Rose & Flower Care Concentrate contains three systemic products
in one:
Disease control to stop black spot, powdery mildew, rust and other fungal diseases in their tracks.
Insect control to keep aphids, Japanese beetles, thrips, whiteflies and other insects from enjoying your roses more than you do.
Fertilizer to keep roses blooming and healthy looking.
And if that's not enough, Bayer Advanced™ All-In-One Rose & Flower Care Concentrate is also very easy to use. Simply add the appropriate amount of concentrate and water (as directed on the label) into a watering can, and pour the solution into the watering basin at the base of your roses. The days of spraying every 7 to 10 days to control diseases are over. One application feeds and protects for up to six weeks.
Bayer Advanced™ All-In-One Rose & Flower Care Concentrate can also be used to protect other flowering plants, including annuals, perennials and shrubs like azaleas, camellias, rhododendrons and landscape ornamentals.
How it works
Bayer Advanced™ All-In-One Rose & Flower Care Concentrate works systemically, meaning that water transports the product into the root zone where it is taken-up and moved into the plant. The entire plant, even the new growth, is fed and protected against insect and disease. Rain or watering cannot wash off this long-lasting systemic protection.
For best results, begin using Bayer Advanced™ All-In-One Rose & Flower Care Concentrate in spring when plants are actively growing. Reapply every six weeks for a total of three applications a year. In areas where the disease occurs frequently and the soil is sandy, application intervals can be shortened to four to five weeks for a total of four applications per year.
Ensure the product gets down into the root zone by:
- Pulling mulch away from plants to be treated.
- Building a circular soil basin or well around individual plants.
- Pouring the drenching solution slowly so it can be absorbed by the soil.
Keep rose, flower and shrubs bed clean to minimize reinfection. Planting roses in full sun, keeping foliage dry when watering and proper pruning will also help reduce disease problems.
When used on flowerbeds, Bayer Advanced™ All-In-One Rose & Flower Care Concentrate is sprinkled over the tops of plants to cover the entire area. Be sure to check the label for dilution instructions.
