Swiss Chard is the Most Colorful Vegetable
Few vegetables are as beautiful as Swiss chard. The dark green crinkled leaves with either bright white or red stems are as at home in flower borders as they in vegetable gardens. And now, with the new variety 'Bright Lights', which is a mix of plants with white, yellow, red, pink and even purple stems, Swiss chard is even more colorful. And you couldn't ask for a more delicious or nutritious vegetable. The leaves are high is vitamins and wonderful steamed with a touch of lemon juice and butter. Swiss chard is also easy to grow. Start from seeds or transplants. In cold winter climates, start seeds indoors now for transplanting outside later. Plant in full sun and rich, well drained soil, and you'll fresh chard and a more beautiful garden until summer.
