BAYER ADVANCED™ FLOAT WINS SIXTH CONSECUTIVE TROPHY IN THE JANUARY 2, 2006 ROSE PARADE®
Fifty-Foot-Tall Jack and the Rose Stalk Float Receives Queen's Trophy
For Most Effective Use and Display of Roses in Concept, Design and Presentation
Raleigh, NC/Pasadena, CA – Bayer Advanced™, the creator of some of the most effective rose care products to help America's gardeners grow beautiful, more vibrant roses and flowers, won its sixth consecutive trophy in the 117th Pasadena Tournament of Roses® Parade on January 2, 2006.
Tournament of Roses judges awarded the Bayer Advanced Jack and the Rose Stalk float the Queen's Trophy for most effective use and display of roses in concept, design and presentation. The float is a takeoff on the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale, but with roses. Bayer Advanced Rose Care products help to create magical results in home gardens everywhere. Bayer Advanced has won a Tournament of Roses trophy every year since 2001, when it first entered the Rose Parade. This is the second year Bayer Advanced has won the Queen’s Trophy.
"A sixth consecutive trophy is an incredible honor and beyond our wildest expectations," says Bayer Advanced Marketing VP Mark Schneid.
Key features of the Bayer Advanced Jack and the Rose Stalk float include:
- At 50 feet tall, it's considered by most experts to be the tallest climbing rose in Rose Parade history and the second tallest in the 2006 parade
- The first float in Rose Parade history to debut All-America Rose Selections' award-winning roses – the best new roses of 2006
- 750,000 blossoms, including 25,000 roses
- Tournament of Roses President Libby Evans Wright personally selected Bayer Advanced Jack and the Rose Stalk to be the lead float in the parade. "It's a spectacular representation of the 2006 Rose Parade theme – 'It's Magical," says Wright.
Michelle Lofthouse of Pasadena's Phoenix Decorating, the largest Rose Parade float builder, designed all the award-winning Bayer Advanced floats including Jack and the Rose Stalk.
