Mild Winter, White Christmas
Gardeners in mild winter climates may not get a white Christmas,
but that doesn't mean they can't add a snowy touch to their
outdoor Christmas decorations. This month, nurseries carry a
variety of potted, white flowering plants as well as plants with
white variegated leaves. Mix and match them to turn entryways
and porches into wintry wonderlands. Look for Christmas classics
like poinsettias, azaleas, and amaryllis -- but don't forget
winter annuals like pansies, violas, primroses and alyssum.
There's also sasanqua camellias, cyclamen, early blooming
narcissus and variegated evergreen plants like liriope, holly,
daphne and pittosporum.
