Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sorely disappointed Applied this product to St Augustine lawn four weeks ago. In that time I have not observed any decrease in clover growth. In addition, I now have for the first time a significant growth of mushrooms (flattop nickel sized) throughout where I used the product. I will say my lawn has greened as expected. In the front of my property I used a competitor's product. The termination line of mushroom growth follows this separation of product precisely. Spoke with Jeremy at 800 cost service. He advised the product would not eliminate mushrooms but also contained nothing to promote them. I was not offered, nor did I anticipate, a refund. I will chalk this up to experience and choose accordingly next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Weed and Feed that Actually Weeds and Feeds I have used many brands of Weed and Feed over the years. Most worked to varying degrees but none did both well and none performed for three months or more. Therefore, when I read an ad about "3-In-1 Weed & Feed For Southern Lawns 12.5 lb. Granules" I was hesitant to try a Weed & Feed product again. Boy am I glad I did! This Bayer product really works as advertised. It has been four months since I applied it and the weeds are still under control. The grass is growing thick and has good color. I plan on continual use of this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff Saw this initially in an ad. I was using a multi application per year product last season and saw this, two a year application. Thought I would give it a try since it would save some money and time. First application went down in the spring and is weed free so far. My proof, I applied to the majority of my lawn but missed an area. Well, that missed area is full of weeds and doesn't look as good as the rest of the lawn that was treated with the Bayer Advanced for Southern Lawns.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT! Like the person below, I applied to my Zoysia lawn and it killed my lawn. I have used another product for 18 years and had the most beautiful lawn on the block. I called the customer service line and the guy was not helpful and blamed me for applying too early. I applied the same time I have applied for the past 18 years, I just tried their product this year. PLEASE LEARN FROM THIS POST AND OTHERS. DO NOT DESTROY YOUR LAWN. I am so saddened by this outcome. I trusted the brand name and product and killed a very expensive lawn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the result is great ! I live in central Florida and have St. Augustine grass. I am always looking for products to control weeds and fertilize. This product claims to be a weed killer, weed preventer, and feeds and strengthens your lawn. So I applied it about a month ago before the weeds start growing. We've had some warm weather and the grass is starting to grow. I am happy to report that the areas where the grass is very thin there has been no weed growth. And the grass is greening up nice. Time will tell but so far I am happy with this product

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DON'T USE ON ZOYSIA EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS IT IS OK I APPLIED THIS PRODUCT TO YOU ZOYSIA LAWN AND IT KILLED IT. I WENT TO HOME DEPOT WHERE I BOUGHT IT. THEY DECLINED TO REFUND MY MONEY AND TOLD ME I NEEDED TO CONTACT BAYER. WHEN I WAS AT HD, ANOTHER CUSTOMER WALKED UP AND SAID IT ALSO KILLED HIS LAWN OF ZOYSIA. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievably Fantastic product and results I am 65 years of age, and I remember the days we use to spread cow manure on the grass. Thank God those days are over. I live in Austin Texas and I can tell you this 3-1 is by far the best fertilization product I've ever used. Put it down dry and give it time to cook and soak in. No weeds and absolutely the prettiest green grass on the street. I kid you not, I have people knocking at my door to ask about my grass. My wife just cracks up laughing. Grandpa Bill, Austin

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Killing St Augustine Applied 4 weeks ago and St Augustine grass is yellow and has not greened up. Thought this would help with weed control but in turn has damaged parts of lawn that were strong last year. Poor product labeling !

When can I apply 3-In-1 Weed & Feed For Southern Lawns?

In early spring or fall

Apply only to actively growing turf
• Apply in spring after the lawn is actively growing and has been mowed 2 times.
• Apply in fall no closer than 6 weeks before the first historical frost date for your area.
• Do not apply to Centipedegrass after October 1.
Apply when weeds are small and actively growing and temperatures are between 50–90oF.

To prevent Crabgrass and Goosegrass, apply early spring before the temperatures are regularly in the lower 80oF range.

To prevent Annual Bluegrass (Poa annua) apply August – December.

For optimal Dollarweed control, apply this product mid-fall.

Lawns may be seeded 12 months, sodded 6 months, and sprigged 12 months after applying this product.

What do I need to know before applying 3-In-1 Weed & Feed For Southern Lawns?

  • Use this product only on established Southern lawns listed on this label – new lawns must be at least 3 months old if sodded, 16 months old if sprigged and 16 months old if seeded.
  • Do not overlap treated areas or make repeat applications within 90 days as over application could damage the lawn.
  • Do not apply this product to water-saturated soils.
  • Do not apply this product if the lawn appears unhealthy e.g., due to lack of water (drought, watering restrictions), turf disease (dollarspot, large patch, grey leaf spot, take-all root rot, etc.), parasitic microscopic worms (nematodes), turf insects (chinch bugs, etc.), heavy shade, recent aeration or verticutting, or if the lawn is prone to winter injury.
  • Apply when the air is calm to avoid drift onto desirable plants.

Broadleaf weeds including Dollarweed, Dandelion, Clover, Chickweed and Henbit. See product label for complete list.

What weeds does 3-In-1 Weed & Feed For Southern Lawns prevent?

How do you use 3-In-1 Weed & Feed For Southern Lawns?

Use rotary or drop type spreader to apply granules evenly over the lawn. To be sure you cover lawn areas uniformly, first treat the border of the lawn then fill in the center.

Make parallel passes, walking at a steady pace to ensure even distribution of the granules. Do not overlap treated areas. Sweep, brush, or blow any accidentally applied material off driveways, sidewalks etc. back onto the lawn. Heavy raking will disturb the weed preventative barrier and reduce the effectiveness of this product.

Wait 24 hours after applying, then activate residual barrier by lightly watering in.

Do not make more than two applications per site in any 12 month period, or make repeat applications within 90 days as over application could damage the lawn.

Can I mow or water the lawn before application?

If the lawn needs mowing, do it 1 - 2 days before (for best results) or 1 day after applying this product. Clippings from the first three mowings should be left on the treated area. Do not use the clippings from the treated areas as mulch or compost around flowers, ornamentals, trees or in vegetable gardens.

If lawn is dry, water 1 - 2 days before using this product. Do not water for at least 24 hours after application or apply if rain is expected within 24 hours.

How does 3-In-1 Weed & Feed For Southern Lawns work?

This product contains a proven blend of weed killers to kill existing weeds, plus a residual herbicide to keep them from coming back for up to 6 months. This product starts working immediately to stop weed growth until weeds are dead, usually within weeks. Plus, it feeds your lawn for quick greening and long-lasting feeding.
