RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Bayer CropScience, one of the world’s top innovative crop science companies in the areas of crop protection, non-agricultural pest control, seeds and traits, has announced that Dr. Jacqueline Applegate, head of Bayer Environmental Science North America, has joined the board of directors for Passage Home, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering local citizens by giving a hand up, not a hand out. As a board member, Applegate will be responsible for guiding Passage Home in building strong communities and vibrant families through partnership with various corporations, congregations and community organizations that support the fight against poverty and homelessness.
Active in the community, Applegate has served on the Women’s Leadership Council for the Triangle United Way, as well as volunteered with the Girl Scouts of North Carolina Coastal Pines. Prior to joining Bayer Environmental Science North America, she served as the head of Bayer Advanced, the consumer branded division of Bayer CropScience. Applegate earned her Ph.D in chemistry from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
“I am proud to become a member of the Passage Home team,” said Applegate. “Passage Home and Bayer CropScience share the goal of enriching the Wake County area through strong leadership and service. I look forward to joining all Passage Home board members and volunteers in giving the organization an even stronger community presence.”
