Wild Onion is a perennial, grass-like weed with long, green leaves that grow 10 to 15 inches tall and have an oniony aroma when crushed. It is a troublesome weed, especially in lawns, often sprouting in fall in mild winter areas. Small green to purple flowers bloom in clusters atop slender stems from spring into summer. Wild Onion sprouts from underground bulbs and thrives in heavy, wet soils.
Wild Onion is found throughout the United States.
